btw, has anyone read the new story guidelines on FF.net? Are we spoiled or does some of the things said there just seem like some kind of ... puhh... IDK, I can't think of a word that would be accurate so I don't sound dumb and/or like a prissy baby, eheh. ^^;

But, idk, the tone in some of that stuff sounded really condescending, I mean... yeah, EVERYONE should proofread and utilize the spellchecker, but they made it sound like you'll suffer some kind of punishment if you don't other than your own lack of reviews or something.

Then beyond that... 'if a reviewer has rightfully criticized your work, take it as a compliment that they took the time to...', what? Really? I mean, yeah again, agreeing here, there is that aspect where it would be a compliment cuz they're taking time to write a review for you, but on one hand, how long does it take to write a review? The best critics are the slowest typists? Lololol. It depends on the review obviously. There's an clear difference between constructive criticism and being flamed, and I think a reasonable writer would know to take a compliment from a well thought out review, over one that uses scathing and unprofessional language. Could the latter have a point? Sure, I've unfortunately agreed with some rude ass commenters here and there on the web. But whatever happened to that be respectful rule or whatever? They still have to filter their language to express their point. One of the guidelines said something about that ole 'two way street' relationship. Yeah, that respect thing has alwayyys been a two way street. So I think, just because the reviewer took the time to type you a review doesn't mean it should automatically be excused as a compliment (I'm just saying that's what the wording of the guideline sounded like, I'm trying to express another way it could be interpreted, extreme 'logical conclusion' or not, bleh) because if they weren't respectful or even remotely helpful in their 'critique', then it goes to say that they could have taken the time to write their critique more professionally. Two-way street.

If there's nothing helpful in the review, but suddenly it's not 'P.C.' of the writer to call it a flame, then the only thing it can be recognized as is a reaction. Are opinions reactions? Yeah. Are you supposed to respect another's opinion? Generally. What's my point? It's: Where does the reaction fall in all of this then? Ppl get flamed by anonymous people they didn't intend to outrage because they did something wrong here, here, and everywhere. That can't possibly get the compliment cop-out. (sorry if cop-out doesn't actually work, I saw alliteration and went for it). Opinionated people are gonna argue. Sensitive people are gonna retaliate. Try if you will to moderate that, but to specifically put the reviewer in the guideline like 'the customer is always right', it's kind of... it just makes it seem like whatever has happened to polarize writer and reader, it's enforcing one side over another it feels like. It should be a more general guideline, just straight up 'respect other members' and leave it at that.

And then there was other stuff, it did sound condescending to me. It sounded like the people running FF.Net or those who had recently modded through the crap just got super jaded about their job and wrote those rules during a very bad mood. :icondontunderstandplz: all my 'lesighs' for this.

Sorry for the random rant. ^^; I just suddenly had a lot of thoughts out of nowhere about this. :iconimmastupidplz: I hope I'm not crazy for thinking of all this, heh.
